Are there any issues with timing chains and specifically with chain guides (plastic?)? I had just such a problem some years ago now with a 1987 420SEC in New Zealand – only 100,000 kms but I was told that it’s not the mileage but rather fatigue caused by age. These W124 cars are in Bogota, Colombia and because of the dry air, corrosion is not such a problem as in some other countries. In both cases the transmissions are manual.
Any comments will be very much appreciated.
